With thousands of chefs competing in the job market, it is essential to prove your culinary competency. Certification through the American Culinary Federation demonstrates skill, knowledge and professionalism to the food service industry. In addition, certified executive chefs (CEC) earn on average 7% more than the professional chef.
Certification can be achieved between three and six months depending on a your readiness (required courses completed/current and availability of required documentation). Some additional variable costs include practical exam host site fee, educational coursework, cost of food for the practical exam and practice sessions.
